Gonzo: The Life and Work of Dr. Hunter S. Thompson

Yesterday I was inspired by Gonzo, the documentary about Hunter S. Thompson. Of course, since I fancy myself a writer (ahem, ahem), I knew about Hunter S. Thompson. I even gathered with a few pompous literary associates to down shots of Wild Turkey in his honor when the poor guy finally pulled the trigger on his life back in 2005. But now, after seeing and hearing about him through endless interviews, dusty tapes, and recordings I have a newfound respect for the man. He went all in, balls out. There was no story unless he was there. He was the first rock star journalist. He took chances and I have to take my hat off to that.
In a way, seeing that film was the kick start that I needed. I tend to be safe and guarded with my journalism but I feel as though, I’m ready to leave my plateau.
See this film!
